The Music Lobby is a place where music lovers congregate and share their discoveries.
Our mission is to provide music listeners with refined taste a site that exposes them to great music, and only great music. We don’t waste time reviewing music not worth your time, and we don’t waste your time making you read long-winded reviews. We’re music lovers, not English majors.
“We got no time for reviews…”
Neither do you. That’s why we don’t do them on a regular basis. Short paragraphs that simply describe the music we’re highlighting and why we like it is all you need to decide whether to check it out yourself, so that’s the approach we take with new music. We only want music to be heard, not to smother it with needless metaphors and obscure adjectives.
“If you don’t have something nice to say…”
We’ll only cover what we like. Do you care if we didn’t like the new Modest Mouse? Probably not. We only mention what we think is good, so you can see if you’ll like it yourself. That’s why we only will talk about music on the site we consider recommendation worthy and never trash music on our site.
“Talk to the hand…”
We know we are but a few people of many that listen to music, and there are many other tastemakers who may differ with our opinions. So, we encourage any feedback. Every recommendation can be commented on by our readers, and anyone can post in forums, and we encourage users to provide us that feedback loop. Looking for more of a certain sound? Feel free to ask in a comment under the review. Wondering where the sample comes from in track 4? Ask away. Want to expose our readers to the wonders of natural male enhancement? Keep that to yourself.
“If it’s new to you…”
Music is a timeless art form, so we cover old and new music on our site. If one of our writers finds an old album they really like, they may recommend it as if it were a new album. When an album has attained classic status in our eyes, we may highlight it in a “Great Albums” article. In this case, the article may be lengthier, but we’ll try to keep these pretension-free like the rest of the site.
“I’m looking for more music like…”
We’ll try to help. Use the tags to find more music similar to your favorite artists or styles. Don’t see your favorite artist listed there? That means we probably haven't covered anything like it, so feel free to ask in the forums.
