Hotflush label head and dubstep veteran Scuba finally delivers his debut album, and it's about all that one can expect from the owner of one of the most forward-thinking dubstep labels and more. Anyone that's been following the dubstep sound for awhile knows about Scuba's range and potential, so it's nice to see him realize it here, delivering emotive and thoughtful tracks that blend into each other, almost like a DJ mix. But there are no club bangers here. Scuba's gone completely off the club grid the scene has depended on since its explosion from the underground, embracing an experimental and at times more downtempo sound, the type of dubstep diversion always welcome on Hotflush. It would be easy to confuse this with IDM at times actually, and it's been interesting to see how experimental dubstep and IDM have been colliding recently. There's certainly a techno element here as well, safely lining up Scuba with toe-the-line acts such as Shackleton and Pinch. Yet another winner in album format for the dubstep scene.

Style: Dubstep, IDM

Really interested in the dubstep/idm crossover-I really like the 2562 album-if anybody can point me to any other artists working in a similar vein I'd be grateful.

Grear review-I would certainly have missed this album otherwise.
