Bitstream received a bit of press a couple years ago with two Depeche Mode remixes and their first full-length release “Domestic Economy 7”, which followed a decade-long string of hauntingly beautiful electro EPs. Generally though, the brothers Connor have flown under the radar, despite their originality and impeccable production skills (a reviewer once compared them to Drexciya, which is inexact yet somehow appropriate). “The Severed EP” is their second release on Andrea Parker’s Touchin’ Bass imprint, and it’s an interesting step forward. One finds little of the effortless beauty of classic tracks like "Monolith" or "Crab Nebula," and somewhat more of the harsh electro workouts of their recent work. Highly recommended!

Style: Electro, IDM
