This is a CD re-release of the "Blau" vinyl, originally released in 1980, remastered with three new tracks. I can't figure out how it took me so long to discover Monoton, and I really feel that I've now found the Velvet Underground of every ambient dub/glitch album ever made; Monoton are Dopplereffekt, Monolake, Pole, and the entirety of the Mille Plateaux roster reduced to their spectral essence. The two members of this group were a product of the Institut für wissenschaftliche Sensation (Institute for Scientific Sensations), and were interested in representing numeric structures using machines; practically this works out to something like Kraftwerk's "Computer World" by way of musique concrete. Ominous soft drones, minimal and subtle beats, and altogether beautiful.
