Bradford Cox, singer of ‘ambient punk’ band Deerhunter, returns with this solo record, a drifting ambient album with subdued, haunting vocals and max reverb. Distorted fuzz and simple electronic sounds wrap completely around your ears, creating a pulsing rhythm that’s catchy at times. It's Brian Eno with a healthy dosage of My Bloody Valentine. Stand outs include the psych-folk Recent Bedroom and Cold As Ice, an Animal Collective-esque tune with repeated melodies. The warm auras produced by these songs are at once distant and ephemeral, but as the songs progress, these blurs come into focus. Style: Experimental, Ambient RIYL: Liars, Benoit Pioulard Download: Recent Bedroom
