As a genre, IDM seems to be going a bit downhill, but you wouldn’t know it from listening to this astonishingly inventive album from producer Robbie Martin. It would be difficult to overstate the sheer amount of variety packed into this 79-minute opus - collages of noise and melody, found sound, extreme electronic manipulation - all of which combine to create a powerful and almost psychedelic journey that recalls everything from "Foley Room" to "Mohnomishe" to "Confield" (or some schizophrenic combination of the above). An overlooked gem, and almost certainly the best record released by Isolate.

Style: Experimental, IDM

RIYL: Richard Devine, Autechre
