Electronic music collective Landau put their laptops on standby, mugged a jazz band, added orchestra to their name, and somehow created some of the most beautiful jazz arrangements I’ve heard all year. Engineering-wise, there are still electronics weaved into the mix here, but if I didn’t know better, I’d swear this was a live recording of a very talented jazz ensemble. For a collective that wore its influence by electronic innovators a little too proudly on their debut (thepicompromise on Merck), this is a complete 180, and something that cements them as a creative force in whatever style of music they choose to play.
