Already having cemented his title as the most underrated techno producer of the last 15 years, Move D's now setting his sights on being the most prolific. Already having released the excellent Drøne 12" last month on Modern Love, not to mention a double album collab with Thomas Meinecke and a House 12" on new label Uzuri, Move D releases another new album collaboration, this time with frequent collaborator Benjamin Brunn. With such musical diversity apparent in these artists' back catalogues, it's no surprise that this album is hard to classify. The album is built upon "Is it house? Is it techno? Is it minimal?" moments, and depending on which part of these epic tracks you're on, you might be inclined to give a different answer. I think what Brunn and Moufang were trying to do with this album was ask "what if it's all of them?" The duo have attempted to answer it subtlely without trying to cram too many sounds at once into the tracks. The tracks are allowed to morph from one sound to the other over the course of, in many cases, double digit minute lengths, like a very eclectic DJ mix. It can be a little daunting at first, but after a few listens, it's quite impressive. I'm not sure who deserves the credit where, but both should be applauded for such an audacious effort.

Style: House, Techno

RIYL: Isolee, DJ Koze
