This is one of those albums that took a while to grow on me; it actually wasn't until I saw three different live versions of "Triceratops" (probably their best track to date) that I began to feel like what had first seemed to be tedious "noise rawk!" was actually very carefully crafted and full of ideas and energy. The four members of HEALTH are part of the now-famous/infamous "Smell" collective, in L.A., and honestly they come across as pretentious scenester types in interviews, but I just can't hold it against them; the music is really all that should matter, and the music is very good!
