This Canadian band fulfills the promise of their first (self-titled) album on this tightly-produced sophomore effort. Ridiculous name aside, the premise of this group fascinates me; they attempt (as reported in interviews) to create the sound of electronic music - which in this case would be a drum-heavy (two drummers!) IDM-ish sound - with live and almost entirely unrehearsed instrumentation. The first track on the album was actually recorded live at a concert, and for the ‘studio’ tracks the band spliced together the most raucous studio sessions, all to overwhelming effect; this is certainly the most propulsive and energetic record I’ve heard in some time.
