Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew delivers his debut album, and for my money it’s just as good as a new BSS album. The sheer amount of collaborators, the cacophony of sound, occasionally risque lyrics – it’s all there and a trademark of the BSS sound. There are stripped down moments here though where Kevin gets to display more of his songwriting skills e.g. “They say size doesn’t count, but my heart is house”, and it works extremely well. But, if you were jonesing for something new from the collective, this is more than a tie over, it’s a welcome addition to the canon. Style: Indie Rock RIYL: Broken Social Scene, Apostle of Hustle Download: Gang Bang Suicide
