Speck Mountain return with their second album after the wonderful debut album Summer Above. I'm very impressed with Chicago band's ability to create a mood around their music. It's very defined, but very hard to translate from music to words. It's lazy, ethereal, and enveloping. I'm reminded of the last record by Brightblack Morning Light when listening to it, not so much because they sound alike, but that it creates the same feeling. Speck Mountain certainly sounds more sun-drenched whereas as Brightblack Morning Light is a smoky club at 2AM, but there's a common thread in between these two albums that's hard to explain, but easy to feel. I've heard the band described before as "gentle psychedelia", and that's somehow a fitting description for their sound. A band to watch out for. As good as they're first two albums have been, I have a feeling even better stuff is to come.

Style: Indie Rock, Indie Pop

RIYL: Spiritualized, Beach House
