Elvin Estela aka Nobody met vocalist Niki Randa at the record store where they both work at. The collaboration began in 2006 and the result is the sequel to Nobody's debut release on Ubiquity, "Western Water Music Vol. 1." While "Western Water Music Vol. I" was almost entirely instrumental with the exception of a few vocal collaborations, Blank Blue is entirely a vocal collaboration. I would go as far as to say that "Western Water Music Vol. II" feels like a sequel to Nobody's work with the Mystic Chords of Memory on their much acclaimed collaborative album "Tree Colored See" where he handled much of the production. The sound and nature of the Blank Blue recording is very similar to "Tree Colored See." While the album doesn't necessarily break new ground, it is an example of Nobody's growing production skills and signature sound. "Western Water Music Vol. II" is full of warmth and sunshine, it reminds me of what psychedelic pop rock might sound like if groups like The Free Design or The Cyrkle were still recording music today. The watery and swirling percussive sounds create the cohesiveness of the release.
