Misel Quitno is another moniker of the Bern, Switzerland based artist Dimitri Grimm who primarily records as the sample-based beat-centric artist Dimlite, but has also been known to record under the name The Slapped Eyeballers. Dimlite's sound fits in with other beat makers such as Prefuse 73, Flying Lotus, and Hudson Mohawke. According to Grimm, "Sleep Over Pieces" is an experiment with sound that might find itself accompanying a 1960s avant-garde film. The album is made up of original sounds made by Grimm himself ranging from warm glitchy beat music played on vintage synths to lovely electroacoustic melodies that transform into experimental sounds of the early pioneers in electronic music. While quite different in sound, "Sleep Over Pieces" shares the same vision that Harmonic 33's 2005 release, "Music for Film, Television, and Radio Vol. 1" had, the vision of an homage to the old and obscure library records from the 1960s. It is fair to say that the first Misel Quitno release fits somewhere between the Dimlite and The Slapped Eyeballers sound as it combines the beats and live instruments of both.

Why are Dimlite's aliases so much better than his regular stuff?
