This album by Deerhunter frontman Bradford Cox was recorded in a Saturday afternoon on a four-track, two years ago, and still manages to sound better than most albums released so far this year. The quality of the tracks posted on the Deerhunter blog has remained consistently high, and this collection is no exception; the lo-fi recording quality somehow feels appropriate, and at least half of these tracks could conceivably be released as singles. The usual Atlas Sound signifiers are in place (hazy drums, vaguely haunting vocals, washes of ambient noise), but there’s more of a "rock" feel to this album, in comparison to the recent full-length for Kranky.

Style: Shoegaze, Indie Rock

RIYL: Stereolab, Deerhunter
