The Weather Clock is much like Antony Harding’s older albums: chock full of childhood memories and the evident sadness of seeing the nostalgia all wash away. The album’s reverb-drenched tunes float around the listener’s head, never wanting the listener to remain grounded as long as the album remains playing. The absence of drums on the album definitely enhances that effect of hovering over the countryside. All the songs included are beautifully sad with the use of sparse piano notes and acoustic/electric guitar strumming. If the last song “To My Love” doesn’t break your heart, then I just don’t know anymore. I only wish there were more songs that used Harding’s voice, which is only apparent in two of the twelve tracks, “Girl On The Hill” and “One Morning In May.” Overall, it’s a must buy for those who like ambient shoegaze.

Style: Shoegaze, Ambient

RIYL: Epic45, Slowdive
