The sound of M83 changed considerably when half of the original duo (now recording as Team Ghost) left the band after the release of "Dead Cities." M83's two proper albums (essentially solo projects) since then have been quite good, of course, though at times they veered into the cheesier side of 80s retro. In any event, now we can finally hear the other half of M83 in his own right; and this is probably the superior half, to be honest. If you love M83's first two albums more than their latest two albums, definitely give this EP a listen; it has the elegant, dark shoegaze that I'd been missing.
