Newworldaquarium is Jochem Peteri. This is his first album as Newworldaqaurium after a string of 12"'s and aliases. To put it simply, this album is perfect winter ambient dub/house/techno. Jochem's melodies are the sound of snowflakes crystallizing and sidewalks icing over. The repetitive beats are hypnotizing and could easily score the sequence of something freezing over in the cold. The closest touchpoint I can think of are the best moments of Rod Modell's "Incense & Black Light" album from 2007 (The Dead Bears actually came out at the same time on limited vinyl. In 2008 it was re-released on CD with extra tracks). Occasionally, Peteri does fall a little too much in love with his beats, making the songs drag a little long becomming repetitive, but this is one of the finer dub experiments you'll hear.

Style: Techno, Dub

RIYL: Rod Modell, Gas
