Sascha Funke's debut attempt Bravo was a romantic techno love affair. Mango takes Funke to a completely different realm, whereby he delivers an album that is essentially minimal, but incorporates a skillful sensitivity. Some of the tracks immediately sound like Alex Smoke, but the overall feeling of the album is somewhat more in touch with his feminine side. Most of them will make you wanna get up and dance like crazy (watch out especially for Double Checked!), but there are also modern guitar ballads to balance it out. Mango is definitely the best thing Funke has produced to date, and it's no hyperbole to say that it will be listed as one of the best techno albums of 2008.
